Crystal in The Bible

The bible made mention of crystals in some scriptures. The Bible talks about rubies in  sapphires Lamentations 4:7, (Proverbs 8:11), and topaz (Job 28:19), for instance, the breastplate which the Levitical high priest wore had twelve stones, with each one inscribed with  the names of the tribes of Israel: “The first row was carnelian, chrysolite and beryl; the second row was turquoise, lapis lazuli and emerald; the third row was jacinth, agate and amethyst; the fourth row was topaz, onyx and jasper. All were placed in gold filigree settings” (Exodus 39:10–13).

The river which flows from the thrown of heavenly is “as clear as crystal” (Revelation 22:1), the region prior to the throne is something like “a sea of glass, clear as crystal” (Revelation 4:6), and “spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked something like a vault, sparkling like crystal, and wonderful” (Ezekiel 1:22). The Bible never assigns any mystical properties to crystals.

Apart from it been a beautiful mineral structures, they are used for performing crystal healing. It is a pseudoscience that intends to treat different illness. According to crystal healers, when you carefully place crystals on a patient’s body it’s meant to line up with or trigger the body’s chakras and enhance healing.

There’s is a believe that crystals have internal power which can be controlled and used for their functions. Some use crystals to scare evil spirits or evil power and introduce fortune. Atimes crystals are used in feng shui, believing it generates good vibrations. Crystals that absorb too much bad energy in the process of guiding a home has to be “cleansed” to re adjust  the vibrations.

However these superstitious beliefs concerning the crystals are not in the Bible. The scripture never said crystals are useful for getting wealth, revive romance, or chasing of evil spirits; nor does it talk about crystals required to relate to God’s Spirit. On the other hand the Bible kicks  against involving in things connected to superstition and occult. God detest superstitious belief and occultic practices found in Deuteronomy 18:10–12 and witchcraft are linked with idolatry as ungodly act Galatians 5:19–21. Using of crystals as amulet, charms, or talismans is an example of occultic practice. No matter how simple it is, whatever that invokes the spirit world can be classed as witchcraft.

The use of crystals been superstitious is an example of elapsed generation changing what God has created and compromising to carryout an ungodly act. Crystals are sure examples of God’s marvelous handiwork. It is not wrong to use crystals for decorating the home or wearing them as jewelry, but there is no magical thing about it. Making use of crystals as a protective tool is idolatry reason is, it depends on evil forces instead of God’s power for healing and protection; meaning it is practicing or serving another god. The bible strictly kicks against it and condemns idolatry.  You can find this in Deuteronomy 4:15–20; Jeremiah 44:1–4; 1 Corinthians 10:14–20; 2 Corinthians 6:16–17.

In the English Versions of the Bible the word also signify rock-crystal, or crystallized quartz. The Greeks called krustallos, “ice,” having the belief it is formed from water by extreme cold. Thus in Revelation 4:6; 21:11; 22:1, either “crystal” (EV) or “ice” (Greek, krustallos) matches the text. The bible says “crystal” in Ezekiel 1:22 (qerach) is large obviously the same way (the Revised Version, margin “ice”).
