How Does Heaven Look Like?

Heaven is a beautiful paradise, where the host of angels and God lives. It is also known as the paradise of after-life. What the majority refer to as “heaven” is actually an eternal home which the scripture calls the “new Jerusalem”, which is worthy of special notice.

The description of heaven is a paradise to behold, no one would want to miss a beautiful place like that.

John 14:1-3 tells us that God is preparing a place for us to stay. Those that are saved will become a new creature in heaven, their mortal body will be substituted for immortal. Because life in heaven is eternal. No one will be sick, hungry neither will there be challenges. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

Isaiah 35:6(Isaiah 35:5, 6)  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

(Philippians 3:21). Isaiah 65:21 says And they shall build houses, and inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

God is in heaven and he always cares for his children. He wants to be with his children and has made a comfortable place for us.

The structure of heaven

Heaven is a beautiful place. The book of revelation 21:1-2 says  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. I saw a new Heaven and new earth the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband”

Heaven is not a mysterious place but a real place for those who are saved and have prepared themselves for it.

Jesus is present in heaven as an immortal being. When he rose he ascended into heaven to dwell. In John 14:2 He said, In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you”.

The leadership of Heaven

Heaven is a place of royalty because God is a sovereign being ruling there and the world at large. God leaves with believers that believe in the reality of his kingdom. God himself leaves with us in heaven, we don’t need to ask for God’s presence, since he is there in heaven flesh and blood.

Heaven’s description

Heaven is seen as a “highest place”, a sacred place, a Paradise, opposite to hellfire and it is accessible to all who believe in heaven and have prepared themselves for it through their way of life, religion, virtue, and righteousness.

The Godliness of Heaven

God’s kingdom is made for the righteous. No form of filthiness or unholiness will be allowed in heaven. It’s only for those who merit it according to their life in accordance to the will of God.

Rev 21:24-27 says “And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life”.

No immoral act is found in heaven. Heaven can’t be polluted by sin or unrighteousness, that is why only Godly people are allowed in heaven.

The Glory of Heaven

The book of Revelation gives us a better description of the glory of heaven. (Revelation 21:18-25), describes heaven itself as a city of gold. Its walls and gates, diamond-like, are stunning, heavenly features are beautifully made. God has made it very beautiful because he does things perfectly.

The Gladness of Heaven

The joy about heaven is the fact that God rules in heaven. Our joy is in the leadership of God. He will always provide for us and take away our pains because he cares for his children. Rev 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”.

Unlike the earth where there’s death, fears, problems, and temptations. Heaven remains a sacred place, divinely made for eternal comfort and happiness.

Levels of heaven

The levels of heaven are in three different categories. They are ranked in three degrees of glory namely; celestial, terrestrial, and telestial kingdoms.

Bible verses on the description of heaven

1.Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

2.1 Corinthians 2:9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.”

3.2 Peter 3:13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

4.1 Corinthians 15:50 “I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable”.

5. Mathew 7:13-15 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

6. John 14:2-4 “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

7. Revelation 22:4-7 “No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.” “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”
